Learning The best Chinese language As Per Your Requirement

During an exchange semester in Singapore we more or less spontaneously decided to learn Chinese. However, we found the language course at the local host university terrible and saw my talent freedom in language acquisition confirmed.

High opportunity costs

Not a few voices strongly deny this question – arguing that intensive and broad English language training in China will be fruitful and that English will become the standard in the business world. This development can already be observed in major cities such as Shanghai and Beijing. In addition, the opportunity cost is high: instead of buffing characters, one could use the time to learn other skills. At the best chinese language school in angmokio you will be getting the best opportunities.

Is it all just a hype and I do a lot of effort, without reaping the fruits of my work?

Every beginning is difficult

  • First a small overview: The Chinese language has the reputation of being difficult to learn. The main difficulties are certainly the pronunciation and the characters. But other things are simple: Conjugation, declension, and constructions like the subjunctive are completely missing. In my opinion, Chinese is not difficult, but very expensive.
  • So you need less the analytical skills that I know from my scientific studies, but rather the ability to memorize. A musical hearing is also a great help – and unfortunately a gift missing me.
  • Basically, Europeans teach Chinese three to four times slower than, say, Spanish. You can speak fluently after about a year. More or less ready for the business world is one and a half to two years full-time study in a Chinese-speaking environment. It is elaborate but doable. As everywhere in life: practice makes perfect.
  • Not to be recommended are compromises. Either one aims at the mastery of the language, at least in his area of expertise, or one trusts a translator right from the beginning. A good Chinese is wonderful for the holidays, but not enough for the business world. It can only be counted as a good gesture. On the other hand, there are great opportunities with almost perfect language skills.

Compromise will be rewarded

If you build a long-term relationship, build a local office or live in the country, language skills are an invaluable help. It starts with gathering information: The ability to get first-hand information is an important cornerstone of success and can be a bargaining chip.

If you rely only on English, the other side has more control over what information is made available. And there will always be people – even in key positions – who cannot or do not speak English. After all, business contacts are human contacts and congeniality and experience definitely helps.

A task for life

In turn, the reluctance to learn language can also be interpreted as a sign of arrogance or lack of competence. In addition, it is possible that Chinese self-confidence will increase so much that foreign negotiators will require Chinese in the future.

Learning this language always remains a life task. After all, learning is not enough, then it’s about not forgetting. In doing so, you are somehow linking your life to a country and its culture. One can find this deterrent or see it as a challenge to cultivate friendships from this language area intensively.
